Marquette University News Release

Charles Franklin goes “On the Issues” to present new Marquette Law School poll

October 17, 2013

Event Information:
Date: Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013
Time: 12:15 – 1:15 p.m.
Place: Marquette Law School, Eckstein Hall

Charles Franklin, director of the Marquette Law School Poll, will be the next guest for “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.

Franklin and Gousha will go inside the numbers of the latest Marquette Law School Poll, which will look at public views on key issues a little more than a year before the 2014 elections. How do the people of Wisconsin feel about the race for governor, the economy and recent events in Washington? And which potential 2016 presidential candidates are showing early promise in the state?

Franklin joined the Marquette faculty on a full-time basis in August, becoming a professor of law and public policy in addition to his previous role as poll director.

Franklin was a visiting professor at the Law School in 2012, leading the Marquette Law School Poll’s efforts to provide a comprehensive, independent survey of voter attitudes in Wisconsin during the historic election year. It was the largest independent polling project in state history and accurately captured voter attitudes before every major election in 2012, including the gubernatorial recall, U.S. Senate and presidential races.

Franklin previously was a professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He co-founded pollster.com, which became an award-winning site for nonpartisan polling analysis, and is a member of the ABC News election-night analysis team.

Gousha, distinguished fellow in law and public policy and an award-winning journalist, continues his “On the Issues” series of provocative and insightful interviews with local and national public officials, journalists and other newsmakers throughout the year.

Seating is limited; registration is available online. For those who can’t attend in person, all “On the Issues” events are streamed live online at the following website, which also contains a catalog of past guests.
