Funeral services for recent Marquette University student, Richard “Grady” de la Cruz, will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bevsek-Verbick Funeral Home and Crematory, 10210 W. Lincoln Ave., Milwaukee, followed by a eulogy. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 9306 W. Beloit Road, Milwaukee, at 2 p.m. Jesuits from Marquette University High School and Marquette University will preside at the Mass.
Grady, who died in an apparent accidental drowning in Lake Mendota on Wednesday, Aug. 21, was a student at UW-Madison and had recently transferred from Marquette.
As a university community, we extend our prayers and deepest sympathies to Grady’s family and friends for their immeasurable loss. Those who knew Grady were touched by his presence on campus and will continue to keep his memory alive in the days and months ahead.
