Two new members were recently elected to the Marquette University Board of Trustees.
“Scott Roberts and Judge Wynn bring a unique set of skills that I’m confident will diversify and strengthen the Marquette University Board of Trustees,” said Interim President Robert A. Wild, S.J. “I’m honored to welcome both of them to this prestigious leadership opportunity, and I’m confident they will serve Marquette well.”
Scott A. Roberts, a 1985 graduate of the College of Business Administration, serves as president, CEO and chairman of Ziegler Lotsoff Capital Management. Roberts has been in the investment management business for more than 25 years. Prior to joining Ziegler Lotsoff, he was president and CIO of Deerfield Capital Management, where he was responsible for all investment management, marketing and operational activities for the firm. He has also served in investment management roles at Zurich Investment Management, Centre Investment Services, Loomis Sayles and Putnam Investments.
Roberts serves on the board of directors of several of the firms with which he has worked, including Centre Cat, Centre Investment Services, Zurich Investment Management, Liberty Hampshire, Deerfield Capital and Ziegler Lotsoff. He also serves on the board of directors of Catholic Charities of Chicago and Marquette University High School, and is an emeritus board member at Nativity Jesuit Middle School in Milwaukee.
Roberts received an MBA in finance and investments from the Applied Security Analysis Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a member of the Marquette University President’s Society.
Hon. James A. Wynn, Jr., a 1979 graduate of the Law School, was nominated by President Obama to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit in 2009 and confirmed by a unanimous voice vote of the United States Senate in August 2010. Previously, Judge Wynn served for nearly 20 years as an appellate judge on both the North Carolina Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of North Carolina. Following graduation from Marquette University Law School, Judge Wynn served in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps for four years on active duty and for 26 additional years as a reserve officer, retiring at the rank of captain. He was a military judge and commanding officer of the Navy Reserve Trial Judiciary.
Judge Wynn serves on the American Bar Endowment Board, and on the American Bar Association’s Governance Board and Task Force of the Future of Legal Education. For 20 years, he served as Commissioner on the National Conference on Uniform State Laws.
Judge Wynn received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and a master of laws degree in judicial process from the University of Virginia School of Law. He was the E. Harold Hallows Judicial Fellow at Marquette University Law School in 2002 and the Nathan A. Fishbach Fellow in 2012, and received an Alumni Merit Award from Marquette in 2004.
