MILWAUKEE – St. Marcus Lutheran School Superintendent Henry Tyson will be the next guest for “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Thursday, Sept. 19, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.

A native of Great Britain who describes himself as a “wild optimist,” Tyson has made the education of central city students in Milwaukee his life’s work. Tyson runs St. Marcus, a school on the near north side that serves predominantly low-income and minority students.

St. Marcus is one of the biggest success stories in the school voucher program. Test scores for St. Marcus students are well above average for Milwaukee and close to the statewide average. What can be learned from Tyson’s experiences at St. Marcus, and what challenges does the school continue to face?

Gousha, distinguished fellow in law and public policy and an award-winning journalist, continues his “On the Issues” series of provocative and insightful interviews with local and national public officials, journalists and other newsmakers throughout the year. The fall 2013 schedule is also available.

Seating is limited; registration is available online. For those who can’t attend in person, all “On the Issues” events are streamed live online at the following website, which also contains a catalog of past guests.
