This center is a statewide collaboration between Marquette University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Aurora Health Care, and the Alzheimer’s Association. The center was formed in 1986 for the purpose of educating Wisconsin’s healthcare workforce about geriatrics and gerontology and it continues with this same mission today. The WGEC is one of 44 geriatric education centers in the United States funded by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration and is the only organization in Wisconsin dedicated to providing interprofessional geriatric education and training.
