Tree lighting, nativity celebrate the holiday season
Marquette University will present two outdoor programs to help celebrate the Christmas season this month. The residents of David A. Straz Tower will host the fourth annual “Bring Home Jesus” live nativity event, a 24-hour display beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in front of Raynor Memorial Libraries. The Marquette University Residence Hall Association will present the annual “Miracle on Central Mall” tree lighting and blessing ceremony at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, near Raynor Bridge.

Bring Home Jesus
More than 100 volunteers will put on a live, outdoor nativity display to increase awareness of and raise money for homeless children and teens. Over the past three years, “Bring Home Jesus” has raised over $5,200 for nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping homeless youth. For the second year donations are supporting Kids Matter, Inc., a Milwaukee-based agency that assists foster children with finding permanent, loving homes as well as educational and support services for families.
Date: Thursday, Dec. 9, through Friday, Dec. 10
Time: 10 a.m. (event lasts 24 hours)
Place: Raynor Memorial Libraries

Miracle on Central Mall
The annual tree lighting and blessing ceremony will also feature a reception with cookies and hot chocolate. Marquette University President Rev. Robert A. Wild, S.J., will give the blessing. Sally Kuzma from the International Learning Center will speak briefly about the organization, which will receive proceeds from the fundraiser.
