Deadline to register for nine-month leadership program is June 16
Future Milwaukee, a nine-month, 22-session leadership program for working professionals, is accepting applications for its 2009-’10 class. Program sessions will run from September 2009 through May 2010, primarily every other week on Mondays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Applications are available online; the deadline is Tuesday, June 16.
Program participants will learn to build core competencies in individual, organizational and community leadership skills; learn first-hand about the critical issues facing Milwaukee today and in the future; understand how Milwaukee works as a community through direct interaction with key leaders; and participate in program sessions conducted at unique locations throughout Milwaukee County. Each year, Future Milwaukee participants work in teams with area nonprofit organizations on major projects, ranging from fundraising initiatives to comprehensive marketing communication plans.
Since 1978, the Future Milwaukee leadership program, which since 2005 has been housed in Marquette University’s College of Professional Studies, has been building a diverse group of ethically based leaders among all sectors of the Milwaukee community. To date, there are more than 1,300 Future Milwaukee graduates who serve as leaders in business, nonprofit, government and community organizations throughout the region.
