Marquette University’s music programs will fill the campus with the sounds of Christmas as they begin the season with a performance titled “Lessons and Carols,” a concert featuring performances of sacred holiday music and the Gloria of John Rutter, by the Liturgical Choir and Marquette Chorus, on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. in The Church of the Gesu, 1145 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Other holiday music events include:
• The Music Area Holiday Concert, featuring performances by the Marquette Chorus, Gospel Choir, Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will take place Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. in the Varsity Theatre, 1324 W. Wisconsin Ave.
• The Marquette Faculty and Staff Chorale will perform its third annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday, Dec. 6, and Thursday, Dec. 8, at 11:30 a.m. in the Varsity Theatre. The choir will sing a variety of Christmas chorale music, including English, Spanish and French carols, as well as some well-known traditional Christmas songs, to include “Silent Night” and “Away in a Manger.”
• The Naturals, Marquette’s all-men a cappella group, will perform their annual Christmas Concert Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium, 1506 W. Wisconsin Ave.
All concerts are free and open to the public; there are no tickets or reservations required.
