Tree lighting, live nativity celebrate the holiday season
MILWAUKEE Marquette University will present two outdoor programs to help celebrate the Christmas season this month. The residents of David A. Straz Tower will host the fourth annual “Bring Home Jesus” live nativity event, a 24-hour display beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, in front of Raynor Memorial Library. The Marquette University Residence Hall Association will present the annual “Miracle on Central Mall” tree lighting and blessing ceremony at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, near the Joan of Arc Chapel.

Bring Home Jesus
More than 100 volunteers will put on a live, outdoor nativity display to increase awareness of and raise money for homeless children and teens. Over the past three years, “Bring Home Jesus” has raised nearly $5,000 for nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping homeless youth.
Date: Tuesday, Dec. 8, through Wednesday, Dec. 9
Time: 10 p.m. (event lasts 24 hours)
Place: Raynor Memorial Library

Miracle on Central Mall
The annual tree lighting and blessing ceremony will also feature a reception with cookies and beverages. Marquette University President Rev. Robert A. Wild, S.J., will give the blessing. Also, a representative from Casa Romero, a center that offers an array of holistic retreats and programs for local families and parish communities, will speak briefly about the organization.
