Free band, orchestra, choir and carillon concerts in early December
Marquette University’s holiday music season kicks off with the Lessons and Carols Concert, “Christus Natus Est,” featuring the Marquette Chorus, the Liturgical Choir and The Naturals, Marquette’s a cappella group. The concert is Friday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Church of the Gesu, 1145 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Other holiday music events:
- Marquette’s “silver bells” will toll from atop Marquette Tower, 1217 W. Wisconsin Ave., at noon on Sundays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20. Performed by carillonneur Mark Konewko, the Marquette Carillon Concerts can be heard throughout campus.
- Marquette’s music ensembles will perform a holiday concert Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. in the Varsity Theatre, 1324 W. Wisconsin Ave. The concert will include selections by the Marquette Chorus, Gospel Choir, Jazz Ensembles, Orchestra, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.
- The Naturals’ annual Christmas concert is Friday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Todd Wehr Chemistry building, 535 N. 14th St. The group will sing a capella renditions of Christmas classics, such as Carol of the Bells and Silent Night, as well as arrangements of popular seasonal tunes.
